Divorce in Nevada

To be divorced in Nevada, one of the parties must reside here. Nevada’s residency requirement is only six weeks, but getting a post office box or renting a hotel room for six months does not make on a resident. The law required that you move to Nevada with the intent to remain here for at least an indefinite period of time. Nevada also requires an affidavit or other testimony of a resident witness–that is, some person who is now and was a resident of Nevada prior to the time your file your divorce and who can testify from personal knowledge that you or your spouse was a resident of Nevada at least six weeks prior to the filing of the Complaint for Divorce.
